Hong Kong tram is also called the Ding Ding tram. It gets its namesake, because the tram will make a sound of “Ding Ding” when it arrives at the station. Ding Ding tram has been in operation for more than a hundred years since 1904 and is one of the oldest trams in the world. Each tram has a double-decker structure with beautiful color painting.

Passionate about vehicles, I heard about Ding Ding Tram before I went to Hong Kong. It became one of my favorite traveling experiences.

Jump on the British-style double-decker retro tram on Hong Kong Island, go to the top level, enjoy the street view from the open window, and explore many attractions along the route. It is also very British way that the driver is at the right side on all the buses and trams in Hong Kong. 6 Ding Ding bus routes, 30 kilometers of track, and trams entering and leaving the station every minute. The Hong Kong Ding Ding tram has nearly 200,000 passengers every day, shuttles between Shau Kei Wan on Hong Kong Island and Kennedy Town.

The tram fare is very cheap. The fare for adults is HK3.0 (USD $0.4). It is very unique that you go on the tram from the back door and leave the tram from the front door. Passengers pay the tram fare when getting out. It is not only the first choice for short-distance transportation on Hong Kong Island, but also a must for visitors to take an experience in Hong Kong.

If I visited Hong Kong, I definitely would use this tram a lot. It looks great. And the fare is almost nothing!

Thank you June😊 It was super cool! I wish I could take Ding Ding for longer time. I enjoy sitting on the top level and looking at the Hong Kong streets from the open window. Many passengers including me also took pictures through the tram windows.
