My daughter and I watched Moulin Rouge in New York City before Christmas 2024. At the Al Hirschfeld Theater, transformed into a decadent Parisian nightclub, a prominent windmill, a blue giant elephant, and the enormous neon sign light up the entire stage. Before the show started, the actors in Musical walk around the stage as part of the pre-show, allowing the audience to feel completely immersed in the world of the Moulin Rouge from the moment they enter the theatre. 

Moulin Rouge tells the story of a young composer who falls in love with a star of the Moulin Rouge nightclub in Paris at the turn of the 20th century. The show is filled with dazzling lights and colors, nonstop music, activity, and dancing, making for an exhilarating experience. It seamlessly incorporates pop songs into production numbers that help tell the story. Featuring more than 70 songs spanning over 160 years of music, the soundtrack feels fun and familiar to many audience members. However, some critics have pointed out a lack of originality, a disjointed storyline, and a superficial emotional impact. Overall, Moulin Rouge is a spectacular musical party!!!
